Feelings and How They Affect Your Health

OK. You all know me, and I’m not one to dwell on feelings. Actually, I think they sometimes get in the way and can tend to dominate some people’s lives. You also know that I am a perpetual student, and because of that, I’m always enrolled in some course or certification program. (Much to dear Mikey’s chagrin!)
I’m involved in a course currently that examines emotions and the effect they have on the body. Now, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda have always known about this particular correlation and have it down to a science. So we are going to delve into this today, as emotions are definitely a part of holistic health and need to be considered as part of a well-rounded holistic roadmap.
Emotions are intricately tied to our physical bodies. Specific emotions can influence organs and systems, creating harmony or dis-ease in the body. The vagus nerve, often referred to as the “emotional highway,” is the connecting link between our brain and our vital organs. It regulates our emotional and physiological responses. Trapped emotions can block energy flow, which impacts organ function and overall well-being.
Now, I am admittedly a “stuffer” when it comes to feelings and emotions. The expression of emotions was not permitted in my home. We remained stoic and quiet, regardless of the situation. It was considered weak and improper behavior. So when I started studying this, it was like a whole new revelation to me as I looked at my own health and noticed certain correlations. I’m waiting on a book titled Feelings Buried Alive Never Die by Kathy Truman. I’ll keep you posted on what I discover!

So let’s take a look at the relationship between emotions and the organs of the body.
Heart & Small Intestine - abandonment, betrayal, heartache, insecurity, love unreceived, effort unreceived, overjoy, and vulnerability.
Spleen & Stomach – anxiety, despair, disgust, nervousness, worry, failure, helplessness, hopelessness, and low self-esteem.
Lung & Colon – Crying, discouragement, rejection, grief, sorrow, sadness, self-abuse, and stubbornness.
Liver & Gallbladder – Anger, bitterness, guilt, resentment, frustration, and indecisiveness.
Kidneys & Bladder – Fear, dread, insecurity, conflict, creative insecurity, and indecisiveness.
Glands and Sexual Organs – Humiliation, jealousy, shame, unworthiness, pride, and longing
OK, Karen, so what!? I’m so glad you asked! By addressing the emotional roots of physical conditions, we can restore harmony across mind, body, and spirit, empowering a fulfilling and balanced life.
Integration of mind and body empowers us to live more consciously, with a deeper understanding of the emotional landscape within, and the tools to heal and thrive in all areas of life.
Creator God understood this, and the bible is full of commands concerning emotions. Don’t misunderstand me, emotions make up who you are, so they are not BAD. But how we process and handle them affects the body, usually in a negative way, so it’s something we need to be conscious of.
You know me, information is knowledge, and knowledge is power. Now that you know the links between emotions and our physical body, you can look out for these things. Do you have liver or gallbladder issues? Maybe it’s not all physical. Maybe anger is coming in and making it harder for your body than it needs to be.
If you’re like me and tend to stuff your emotions, now might be a good time to do some serious self-examination and see if some deep-seated emotions may be hindering you from becoming the best you.

I mentioned the vagus nerve and how it plays a part in all of this. One of the best ways to activate it and clear out any “stuck” energy is deep breathing. It promotes calmness. Another exercise is grounding. Soon, the white stuff will fly and make this impossible except for the very Finnish folks in the audience! But I do this on a regular basis, and it really does calm me and quiet my otherwise bulldozer personality!
So take some time this week to do a little reflecting. The Bible says, Be anxious for nothing, and in your anger, sin not. Maybe it’s not the emotion, but how you’re handling it. If you need help, seek counseling. And Let’s Get Emotionally Better!
Now, I have an announcement for all of you. In four weeks, I’m going to reveal a new methodology I will be offering in the clinic going forward. Each week, I will give you clues and a letter, and the first one to guess what it is will get a session absolutely free! You have to call in during my show to Telephone Time with the answer. No calls after the show or before. This week’s letter is Z. And your clue is – this reveals things about your health at a cellular level. There you go!! Have a great week, everyone!
